What it Shwas Suzi McDonough
I'm Suzi. I live in suburban Mpls/St. Paul, and spend my days working in graphic design and sales. I suddenly find myself caught up in the First Day to 5K, a podcast running program that should have me ready to run a 5K race in October or so. My fridge is filled with organic stuff these days, because I've just started learning about what sorts of dastardly things are done to our food in this country, and it's pretty horrifying. My awesome family includes The First Baseman and a couple of daughters, Rose and Kelly, who are just about grownups. I love the ocean like it's my religion and try to visit it a couple times per year. The girls and I are on a constant quest to change The First Baseman's mind about stuff, like getting a dog and letting me use his name when I blog about him. I see as much theater as I possibly can, and I am the last remaining Minnesota Timberwolves fan. Look for me in section 126.

Olden days air travel and meeting blog readers in strange places

Havya missed me? I have good excused for being gone so long, but that's all they are—excuses. I've just been mad busy, that's all, with fun things!

Firstively, I've been helping this really delightful friend of my mom's get a book ready for publication. It's been a lot of work and even more fun. The book is about what it was like to be a stewardess—and yes, they were called stewardesses—in the 1950's. So you know how technology tends to make life better and better as time goes on? Not so with the technology of air travel. Air travel has become suckier and suckier through the years. People, did you know that in the olden days, there was a cocktail lounge on the airplane? There were "berths" where you could sleep. Sometimes there would be a fashion show, or an organist to entertain you. I'll let you know where to get the book when it comes out, but meanwhile, you can take a sneak peek over at www.ladyskywriter.com. Leave Anne a comment, because she just learned how to find those!

Secondively, last week one day I was shopping at T.J. Maxx in Burnsville, and I felt somebody looking at me, so I looked back, only then I was looking at her, so I pretended to be looking at a giant silver vase instead, and then she looked at me some more and finally said, "I read your blog." Ha! So funny! I had a really nice conversation with Kim from Lakeville, with whom I had emailed a little bit about Mexico. There was no blog papparazzi around to photograph the moment, but fortunately, my new Blackberry takes pictures:

If I had been more awake and alert, I'd have said HEY KIM! WE SHOULD TOTALLY GO GET SOME COFFEE AND CHAT! Which we should, so email me again, Kim, if you want to do that sometime. I'd have probably thought of it sooner, but I had been up most of the night because both my eyes and my nose were running like faucets. Then, just before my shopping expedition, I'd been at urgent care with one of my children, who had a hilarious (really, it's frickin' unbelievable) medical condition that I am not allowed to blog about . You'll have to just trust me, and laugh uproariously.

I'm going to be around more this week, though, with all sorts of wisdom for the world. So what have I missed? What have you all been up to?
